In the summer of 2019, I participated in the BlueStamp Engineering Program, where I embarked on a project to develop an IoT weather indicator using a Particle Photon and IFTTT. The inspiration for this project stemmed from a common problem I often encountered – forgetting to check the weather. I had experienced situations where I wore a short-sleeved shirt on a cold day or lugged around a thick jacket in scorching heat, prompting me to find a solution to this recurring issue.

Undertaking this project as my first official engineering endeavor was initially overwhelming. I encountered numerous challenges and made several mistakes, to the point where I questioned whether engineering was the right path for me. However, with guidance from my mentors, self-teaching complex physics concepts, and conducting in-depth research on various components and engineering principles, I was able to succeeded in creating an IoT weather indicator that illuminates based on the current weather conditions.

This experience served as an incredible introduction to engineering and played a pivotal role in shaping me into the engineer I am today. It serves as a constant reminder of why I embarked on this engineering journey and how much I've grown both as an engineer and in terms of my documentation skills over the years.

efore starting my IoT Weather Indicator Project, I completed a starter project to gain an introduction to the fundamental concepts of engineering. I opted to build a Simon Says game to familiarize myself with essential concepts like circuits, LEDs, and soldering. These skills proved crucial for my main project, the IoT Weather Indicator.

Yahtzee Game (java)

I coded the game of Yahtzee in Java!

UX/UI Design (Tutree Inc.)

I had the opportunity to intern as a UX/UI Designer at a startup called Tutree Inc. Tutree provided fast and reliable tutoring services, similar to Uber. During my internship, I focused on enhancing the ergonomics of the website and app designs to prioritize the customer's needs.

Retrofit School Project: ACE Mentorship Program

As a student in the ACE (Architecture Construction and Engineering) Mentorship Program, I had the opportunity to work on retrofitting a school to meet COVID-19 requirements. I proposed various design alterations both inside and outside the classrooms, including features like an automatic sanitizing dispenser for classroom cleaning, larger windows to improve air circulation, a directional hallway concept, and even simple additions like more bushes between lunch tables to encourage social distancing.

This project provided me with valuable insights into fundamental design concepts such as problem statements, timelines, costs, and constraints.

Puzzle Cube Project: CAD Modeling

This was my first experience with CAD modeling, which occurred before taking ME357. While it was a simple project involving the creation of a cube using CAD modeling, I gained exposure to fundamental CAD concepts and processes, including extruding, sweeping, and converting the 3D model into a drawing.
